POVERTY AND POLLUTION by Alex Castelló

Poverty is present in this world every day, especially in poor and underdeveloped countries.  In this case we are going to talk about Kenya. A very poor country with significant pollution. We are going to talk about a photograph taken in Kenya in a polluted stream. We are going to deal with poverty together pollution as 160 million children less than 5 years drink pollution water.

First of all to our right we can see a very narrow stream, this river flows contaminated since we can see certain plastic components, such as bags or nets. To the right of the whole we can see some rocks that limit the stream. They are brown for what seems to be a dry terrain and there is a lack of water and nature. Down to our right, we see that the stream forms a small pond because of the accumulated garbage. On the left we found a kid, I think he may be five years old. His facial expression says a lot, we can see despair in his gaze. The boy dresses in dirty and torn clothes. This is an indication that you live in poverty. The kid is holding a plastic bottle. This bottle is found in the middle of the photo, see in the middle, the bottle and the dirty water inside it, I think it makes us reflect simply at first impression. We are used to seeing a bottle of clean and treated water. This means that when we see the reality of many countries when they drink the only thing they can drink, we feel impotence. When I see this photo I feel that we are doing something wrong in this world. I think it is imperative that many young children should drink contaminated water full of diseases. We without knowing how much we use clean and drinking water to shower or wash our utensils and we give it importance while children around the world drink water in bad conditions, just to hydrate themselves.

I think this world is divided into three parts, the very rich people, the standard people and the poor people. Poverty is something that will always exist, but because nobody with economic power wants to do anything about it. If people with a lot of money went down to the level of standard people by donating aid to poor people, there would not be so much poverty and the problem would be less. I think we are not aware of what poverty is because you don't feel it until you live it.
