POVERTY SEEN BY INNOCENT EYES by Arnau Dago

 

Poverty has always been on the planet, there has always been someone who had more than others, and those others were and are considered poor by not having what the rich have. We know that there is poverty on the planet, but we don't really see it with our eyes, we see it in advertisements, in photos, in movies and series... But we have to empathize to know what it really is. The poor have always been treated as inferiors, and the richest are proud of this, because doing the people more poor, means that they will be richer. Not having money does not depend on you, the children and families of the less developed countries cannot even afford the minimum nonsense that we have at home and we do not pay attention to it. They had that bad luck of being born in a country with few resources, and they work more time and harder, as is the case of the boy in the photo.

 

This photo, due to the child's skin colour, and the poverty that abounds in that small neighbourhood, we can see that wherever they are they have a low standard of living. The boy seems to be looking at the garbage and clothes that have been thrown a few meters in front of him. He carries a backpack, maybe he comes from school, and when he went home he found this waste. Just behind the kid with a backpack we can see another boy or girl who is running without a clear facial expression. I think he is playing hide and seek with his friends or he may know the boy with the backpack.

 

One thing I have sinned about is that behind the child, in the background, is a white house. This makes me suppose that it belongs to a neighbourhood of people with a higher economic level. And all these little houses made of materials like sheet metal, old wood or mud with sticks, belong to a poorer neighbourhood. These cases are found in all cities, including luxury ones. And we are used to seeing a neighbourhood with a poorer economy, and not wanting to go through because we have fear, fear of what? Fear of people who do what they can to survive on a planet where opportunities are only available to those who have born in places and families with a minimum of money?

 

I am surprised that it is a totally standardized topic, and that it is thought that everything is arranged. When this people work every day without exception to be able to be where they are, and maintain a house, a family, and little else. While we ask them for more and more, although they cannot lose more.
