THE POVERTY by Albert Caselles

Around the world there are many homeless people. We can’t imagine what it should be like not having a home. In October 2013 as winter began to draw in, the homes of Roma families, including 55 children, were demolished without consultation. All this they did to build a tourist resort in Eforie Sud, a Black Sea holiday resort known for its clear blue waters, gleaming beaches and mild summer climate.

In this phot we can see a family in his “house”. There is a father, a mother and two sisters. They look unhappy the situation in which they live it is normal that they feel sad. I think that they were happy where did they live before. The father and one sister are looking at the camera. The mother and the other sister are looking at the ground. They are wet and dirty. They aren’t comfortable in this house. The house is uncertain. In this house there is not electricity, tap water… not even a door or a window. The ceiling is a plastic trap which is supported by a stick. There are also some dirty mattresses. I suppose that the family sleep all together in these mattresses. On the right there are some wood and plastics traps, are the materials that the house is made of.  On the left there are some woods. It is possible that these woods are used to reform the house. On the background we can see the sky, it is not a good weather, the photo goes with the weather, a sad day, like the faces and the filings of this family. We can see a house that is being built. I don't understand why the family is not going to live there. Also, there are some trees and the floor of the house is wet earth it is not a cozy house.

My point of view poverty is not having enough material possessions or income for a person is needs, like clothes, potable water, food… But, that's just "the tip of the iceberg" of what causes being poor. The causes are: sadness, social distancing, hopelessness… We have to help the poorest countries to escape poverty.
